Pink tiger baby shower theme

The pink tiger was designed by mother to be Jennifer a talented graphic designer. We translated her design into cake. Sour cream chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and chocolate buttercream. A chocolate lovers dream. Matching decor on cupcakes: lemon cupcakes stuffed with tart lemon curd topped with lemon buttercream. Banana cupcake stuffed with chocolate custard topped with cream cheese icing. Congrats Jennifer!

another 5 stars on YELP! ...

... and this time it's from a wedding coordinator.

Adrienne from Tickled Events writes:

"What amazes me most about Baked Vanilla's creations are that they taste as good as they look!! I have never eaten such moist cake; her red velvet is to die for, and I won't eat red velvet from anywhere else now! And the cream cheese frosting goes really well, not too sweet. The chocolate is pretty chocolately too! Arlene is really creative and puts a lot of heart into her work. I really like all the details that she puts into her specialty cakes. They are so very beautiful."

You can go here to read for yourself. She even uploaded lots of pictures for me. How sweet!

New logo on the way!

We're also finishing up the final touches on our new logo. We can't wait to show it to you! It's gone through so many revisions in the past months.

You know how they say "a picture says a thousand words"? Well, we hope that like our name it also says "cool, fun, modern, and sophisticated!"

What's in a name?

What a busy, but fun month April has been!

In talking casually with someone in marketing recently, she commented how much she loved our name, "Baked Vanilla". She said "it just rolls off [her] tongue ... the name makes it sound like such a cool and fun... modern and sophisticated new kinda company."

And that's pretty much sums up what we're going for here - fun, yet modern. Easy going, but sophisticated!

Another 5 Stars on YELP!

We received another review on YELP!

We love it when people enjoy our treats and totally appreciate it when people take the time to tell us they love it too. It lets us know we're doing something right. :)

"Arlene is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered my best friends Birthday cake in less than 24 hours and it came out exactly how I envisioned it!! The theme was Dodgers Baseball. She made a LA Dodger cake w/ Red Velvet and creame cheese frosting. It was DELICIOUS!!Everyone enjoyed your art and your creativity.thank you!! I'll definitely call you again!! Good Luck!!"

We're on FACEBOOK!

Starting a business is never easy, but the hardest part is simply JUST STARTING!

The last couple of months have been challenging, but productive. We've been getting more order requests, so updating our site and rolling out our new "look" has been delayed a bit. The good news is we've got a logo and design we're really excited about and look forward to getting it out here in the upcoming weeks.

In the meantime, we've cleaned up our website quite a bit and have been adding more pics on a regular basis on facebook. Won't you show us some love and become a FAN today?

THANKS!!!

Our first review on YELP!!

We received our first review on YELP and guess what? It's 5 stars!

This pleases us to no end. I mean, we're just starting out and it's a scary thing. But when we hear good things like this, it encourages us to keep going. Thanks so much for the support!

"Arlene made my wedding cake and within a very reasonable price for our small budget. My husband and I met with her to taste her different flavors and I brought with me a concept of the cake design a friend of mine sketched out. First of all, all of her flavors were so delicious that it was hard to choose just one. But, Arlene told us we could choose different flavors for each layer of the cake. My husband and I went with 2 of our favorites; red velvet with orange cream cheese icing for the bottom and "anniversary" top layer and then tiramisu for the middle layer. Can I just say, "mm...MMMM...YUMMY IN MY TUMMY!!!"? Second, the cake turned out just like the concept but 10x better because of the 3D seaweed leaves! So gorgeous...simple but sleek and modern. Exactly how I wanted it. Last, but not least, everyone at the wedding ended up going back for second and even third helpings. It was all just that good. I'll definitely come back to her for all my cake needs and I recommend her for yours!"

Happy New Year!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday and had a chance to relax since ushering in the new year.

One of the things we've been working on is rolling out a cleaner website and adding more pictures of our goodies to our gallery. Often we forget to take pictures of all the cakes and treats we bake because we're just so excited to get them to our customers, but we're working on that.

We're really excited about what's to come in 2010 and wish you a Happy New Year!
